On 22nd November 2010, crowds gathered in Rugby as leading celebrity chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli cooked up a storm and officially opened the Air Ambulance’s first-ever shop.

The bright, modern shop, designed by InsideOut Creative, proved to be a big hit taking over £1,350 by the end of the first day. This new venture will provide a huge boost to the Air Ambulance’s fundraising efforts and help them secure the much-needed funds to keep them flying. This will not only raise vital new funds for the charity, but will further increase their brand awareness and profile in local communities and on the high street.

InsideOut were commissioned to design both the interior and exterior of the shop. As the Air Ambulance are planning on establishing a retail chain throughout their area of operation that will expand to 30 outlets over the next three years we decided that the most cost effective route was to create a ‘retail environment style’ for all shops rather than develop a solution bespoke to Rugby. This maximised their budget and provided them with a solution to apply to all shops moving forward.

Kate Childs, Marketing Manager, had this to say “Both me and Emma are thrilled with the first designs – you have really captured what Emma was looking for, plus added in some new elements which really bring it to life… Emma has just told me she can’t stop looking at the designs so you’ve clearly wowed her!”

Claire Marshall, Director of Fundraising added that, “The opening of our first shop certainly is a very proud moment within the history of the charity and we are delighted with the reaction of our supporters. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank everyone who braved the cold weather and queued up to take a peek at our new shop and support their Air Ambulance.”

Jean-Christophe Novelli himself said, “Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance is a great cause. I know someone who once needed the help of the Air Ambulance and the work they do in saving lives is fantastic. I am delighted to be here today supporting them.”

You can find the shop at 37 High Street, Rugby opposite Marks and Spencer. So if you are in the area pop in and see if you can grab yourself a bargain. You’ll also be supporting a great cause at the same time.
